Spirits become disobedient when their level exceeds your character's 'obedience level' cap. If a spirit's level is more than 10 levels above your character, it will refuse to battle or slack off in combat. The fix is simple: prioritize leveling up your character. Complete main quests, Magic Handbook courses, and dungeon challenges to level up quickly. Avoid catching high-level spirits early on — wait until your character level catches up.

All three starters have perfect stats, so choose based on your playstyle. Huohua (Fire): Strong against Grass and Ice, high DPS, fastest at clearing stages — great for efficiency-focused players. Shuilan (Water): Low energy cost skills, excellent defense, strong sustain — ideal for steady players. Miaomiao (Cute): Built-in healing, tanky, most forgiving — perfect for beginners still learning. Quick tip: new players can't go wrong with Huohua for the smoothest early game.

The first 48 hours are the golden window. First, push through main quests — unlock the Magic Handbook and complete all courses immediately (highest XP return). Second, catch every new spirit you encounter — registering Pokédex entries gives 800 XP (including evolution bonuses). Third, use stamina efficiently: prioritize rare encounters not yet registered. Watch out: two side quests require adding friends (takes 5 hours) and spending 1M RocoBucks (get 990K free from the Coin Machine on Peter Avenue) — handle these early.

Natures determine stat bonuses. For example, Adamant boosts Physical ATK but reduces Magic ATK. The optimal nature depends on the spirit's role (physical attacker, special attacker, or tank). Good news: natures can be changed with items, so don't stress about caught spirits' natures. Use them as-is early on, then fine-tune later with nature-changing items obtained from dungeons, events, or the shop.

EVs are hidden stats that significantly boost combat power. In Roco Kingdom World, EVs are increased entirely through items — similar to a breakthrough system. Main sources: Tower of Heaven challenges, Seven Luminaries dungeons, and weekend events. The most efficient method is using 'Effort Fruits' directly from the pet interface to instantly add EVs. Prioritize your main DPS spirit and stockpile fruits whenever possible.

Rare spirits are scattered across different wild maps — patience is key when catching them. Sources include: hidden spirits at specific locations (channel-hopping improves efficiency), limited dungeon drops, and boss defeat rewards. Advanced catching tip: for high-level spirits, charge up Star Magic to stun them, then approach from behind to initiate battle — the stunned state greatly increases catch rate. Shiny spirits can be obtained through the breeding system — the best free method for F2P players.

Most basic spirits evolve automatically: typically first evolution at level 16, second at level 32. The system shows a prompt — confirm to complete the transformation. Some special spirits have different requirements: specific evolution stones, designated locations, day/night weather conditions, defeating certain spirits, etc. Some spirits have branching evolutions guided by special items. Evolution significantly boosts base stats and is key to quickly increasing combat power.

RocoBucks are the main currency. Early sources: daily quests give 250 RocoBucks + XP fruits; dungeon quests provide steady income; Roco Voyage missions yield large amounts. Early free 990K: go to the Coin Exchange Machine on Peter Avenue and open drawer #3 to claim directly. Don't spend RocoBucks recklessly early on — save them except for quest expenses. Later you can farm specific dungeons repeatedly for stable income.

Main ways spirits learn skills: Auto-learn (unlocks at specific levels); Evolution learning (some skills only obtained upon evolving); Skill Machines (TM items teach specific skills); Re-learning (forgotten skills can be re-learned from the corresponding NPC). Don't over-optimize skill builds as a beginner — auto-learned skills are fine for progression. Mid-to-late game, use Skill Machines to customize optimal skill sets based on team needs.

Core principles for team building: skill types matter more than spirit types; leverage type advantages (single super-effective = 200%, double = 300%); combine roles (DPS/tank/support). Basic approach: 1 high-DPS spirit as core, 1 defensive tank, 1 support for buffs or debuffs. Avoid having your entire team weak to a single type. Beginners shouldn't stress too much — progress through the story and fine-tune as you unlock stronger spirits.

When a spirit's level far exceeds your character level, a 'command delay' mechanism triggers. Symptoms include: unstable skill activation, reduced accuracy, and inability to use ultimate skills at critical moments. This is the game's balance mechanic to prevent over-reliance on high-level spirits. The solution is keeping your character level ahead. Spirits within 10 levels above obedience cap may occasionally slack off but won't flee battle. So make it a habit: prioritize character level — it's your #1 priority.

Stamina is the most precious early-game resource. Coin Machines are at several key locations. Cocoa Plaza (next to the commercial street billboard): Drawer #1 for 120 free Cocoa Fruits. Peter Avenue: Drawer #3 for 990K free RocoBucks. King's Castle (above the harbor outpost): Use coins to open drawers for 4 King Balls (ultra-rare catching items for high-star spirits). How to get coins: go to Seaside Ruins dungeon — no fighting needed, just pick up coins on the ground and repeat. King Balls are very rare — use them wisely.

Beyond battle spirits, some have invaluable utility: Gentleman Chicken (terrain traversal god — triple jump + fall damage immunity), Ducky (early water mount, must-catch for main story), Sonic Hound (rideable at level 26, fast overworld travel), Winter Sparrow/Storm Bird (flying mount, evolves at 30). These spirits may not be battle powerhouses, but they're essential adventure tools — priority can even exceed battle pets. Catch them while progressing the main story — no need to waste stamina farming.

Common newbie traps: 1. Spreading resources evenly across all spirits — focus on your main DPS instead. 2. Wasting RocoBucks — save for essential items beyond quest spending. 3. Force-catching high-level spirits regardless of your level — they won't obey. 4. Ignoring the Pokédex system — catching new spirits gives massive XP. 5. Not prioritizing character level — it affects all spirits' obedience and unlocks game content.

Breeding is the main way for F2P players to obtain shiny rare spirits. First understand egg types: Normal eggs (random results) vs Precious eggs (usually perfect specimens). The core of breeding is choosing the right parents to pass on good genes through inheritance rules. Beginners should use regular spirits for progression, then invest in breeding perfect specimens later. Understanding inheritance rules is crucial for maximizing breeding efficiency.

Inventory space is limited and needs proper management. Tips: Regularly check your bag — store unused spirits in the warehouse, retrieve ones you need. The warehouse is essentially unlimited storage, so don't worry about overfilling it. Cleanup rules: Release duplicate low-stat spirits for materials; keep high-stat spirits for training or breeding; sell unneeded items for RocoBucks promptly.

Core type principle: single super-effective deals 200% damage, double super-effective deals 300%. You don't need to memorize all matchups at first — there's an in-game type chart. For early team building, just avoid having your whole team weak to one type. Advanced tip: focus on skill types more than spirit types — mixed-type builds can sometimes be more powerful.

The Magic Handbook is the biggest XP source early on. Complete all courses as soon as possible for massive XP and resources. It contains multiple courses, each with tasks that reward you upon completion. Quizzes, gathering, and escort missions all have excellent value — prioritize completing them. In early resource planning, Magic Handbook should be your #1 priority (second only to main quests). Don't skip any courses.

There are four houses to choose from, each with different bonuses. The Alchemy House focuses on resource conversion efficiency — crafting output is 1.25x the base value, great for players who want to stockpile resources. Other houses have their own strengths — some focus on combat, others on exploration. Beginners should pick one that matches their playstyle. House selection can be changed at certain milestones, so don't overthink it.
