How to Get Skill Stones: Research Tasks, Compatibility, and Alchemy

Check compatible spirits, complete the related Index task, and craft additional Skill Stones through alchemy.

Quick Answer

Do not craft a Skill Stone before checking the move and its eligible spirits. The reliable order is: inspect the move, confirm that the target spirit can learn it, complete the related Spirit Index research task, and use alchemy for additional copies.

The official advanced training guide confirms that Skill Stones teach specific moves, but not every stone works on every spirit. It also identifies related Index research and alchemy with the required materials and coins as the main acquisition path.

Check the Move First

Search the Skills Library for the move's type, power, energy cost, category, and effect. Decide whether it fills a real damage, control, recovery, or coverage need. Skill slots are limited, so a rare move is not automatically a useful move.

Confirm Compatibility

Select the Skill Stone in the bag and inspect the spirit icons shown below it. Eligible spirits can be selected, while incompatible spirits display a prohibition mark. Do not assume that every spirit sharing the move's type can learn it.

Example 1: Qilicao Learns Flash

The official guide uses a grass spirit, Qilicao, learning the light move Flash through its Skill Stone. Verify the move in the Skills Library, check that Qilicao is selectable, and inspect which existing move will be replaced before confirming. This example does not mean Qilicao can learn every light move.

Complete the Related Index Task

Open the Spirit Index, find the spirit associated with the stone, and inspect its research tasks and rewards. Tasks may require using a named move, evolving a spirit, or meeting another research condition. Return to the task page and claim the reward after the counter is complete.

Example 2: Magic Cat and Photosynthesis

The official screenshot shows a Magic Cat task requiring Photosynthesis three times. Use the exact named move and verify that the task counter increases. If it does not, check the move name, the spirit or evolution stage, and whether the task is unlocked.

Example 3: Strength Boost and Bubble

The community wiki lists Strength Boost as available from alchemy or the Painted Iron Beast research task. Bubble is available from alchemy or the Wave-Eating Snail task. The spirit that unlocks a stone is not necessarily the final learner; compatibility must still be checked on the stone page.

Craft Additional Copies

After the one-time research reward is used, find a cauldron, open Skill Alchemy, select the unlocked stone, and verify the current materials and coin cost. The official April guide showed a 20,000-coin recipe with move-specific materials.

If the stone is missing from the alchemy list, return to its related research task before farming materials. Public guides disagree on some material routes, timers, and shop inventories, so use the current in-game recipe for those details.

Troubleshooting

First, check compatibility. Second, verify the exact stone name. Third, inspect the move slot replacement. Fourth, confirm that the research reward was claimed. Finally, check current patch notes if an older guide no longer matches the game.

Skill Stones and Bloodline Elixirs are separate systems. A stone teaches an eligible move; an elixir changes bloodline attributes and the bloodline moves a spirit can unlock. Do not assume one bypasses the restrictions of the other.
